Buy and Live on Martha's Vineyard

On those days when the only chore is contemplation of life, nothing beats sitting on the porch looking out over a vast expanse of ocean. On Martha’s Vineyard the options are without limit. You can have North Shore looking out toward the Elizabeths and sunset or maybe the lights of Woods Hole if you need a bit of security that what you left behind still exists. For early risers, Nantucket sound provides spectacular sun rises. I can only compare it to sunrise in the desert where the sky just explodes with color.
I have mentioned previously how many buyers expect to find many ocean front homes and how few there really are across 20 miles of
South Beach. But, oh, those views. For many, the view out across the Atlantic to the horizon provides the relaxation that has no equal. The sounds; the birds; the breeze and just the feel of the air on your skin have no comparables.
Although Menemsha seems to be the real hot spot for sunset, my favorites are Lamberts Cove and Great Rock Bight. For seclusion and privacy, Great Rock Bight has to be #1 and do not forget you will need to take the same hike in the dark that brought you to one of the most beautiful spots on the island. The listings in the above montage are a few of my favorites for sitting and contemplating and many, many others to choose from.
If you plan on spending the winter months on the Vineyard, I strongly encourage considering the many inland properties that provide equally breathtaking and dramatic views across the
Elizabeths and also out over open ocean but the protection greenery. Some of the more interesting will be found in Chilmark with its hilly terrain and beautiful ponds.
My favorite location for views and year-round living is sitting on one of the many island ponds and barrier beaches out across the
Atlantic; views and protection.
For many, buying on
Martha’s Vineyard only means a downtown Edgatown home with views of the harbor. 2011 begins with over 20 in town listings from which to choose.
I have said it before, it is only a buyer’s market if you actually buy. Check out
