Exclusive Buyers Agent 

After graduation from Drake University with a BSBA with a major in statistics, Coles Communications, Look Magazine Division employed me as a demographer. That almost fit my childhood dream of becoming a baseball statistician. 

After five years in Des Moines, the east was beckoning me home and I joined a family retail business as President. We had four stores in Fairfield County, Connecticut specializing in home furnishing accessories and custom window treatments. After 15 years and tenfold growth, I sold my interest. After a year of traveling I decided to become a massage therapist turning my favorite hobby into my "work". Shortly afterward I came to Martha's Vineyard for a summer to practice massage and have been here ever since; 14 years. I commuted in the winter for several years maintaining a practice in Westport, Connecticut to fill the request of many of my Vineyard clients. 

I joined Martha's Vineyard Buyer Agents in 1999 as an agent. I made the decision to join MVBA primarily because of the good feelings I had about the concept of Buyer Agency; the Buyer has a right to be represented in a real estate transaction just as the seller is. Shortly thereafter, I achieved the Certified Buyer Representative (CBR) designation. Last year I obtained my Broker's license and as of January 1, 2002 I am principle broker and owner. 

I never regret the decision to become an Exclusive Buyer Agent. I truly cannot imagine practicing real estate any other way. 

I am a REALTOR® (member of National Association of Realtors), a member of the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents, and REBAC, The Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council, Inc. 

I was recently nominated and approved to be the Martha's Vineyard representative to the Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. A REALTOR® is a professional in the real estate business who voluntarily subscribes to a strict Code of Ethics. 

I am active in the search for affordable housing for island residents on Martha's Vineyard through "Houses on the Move" and the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority. I have pledged to donate 1/3 of any and all commissions earned through the transfer of affordable housing.

Bargain Properties >The Inspection Report

Are you looking for a home and becoming tired of house-hunting? If so, you may be tempted to buy a bargain-priced home "as is" and forego the home inspection. But without the inspection report, do you know what the "as it" refers to? Wouldn't it be better to know what condition the home is in before you buy it?

The inspection contingency allows the buyer to enlist the services of a licensed home inspector within three to seven days after the purchase agreement is signed. The inspector will go over the property from top to bottom, evaluating the condition of all the basic systems and structures of the home in order to identify conditions that may be considered material defects and thus may affect the market value or the safety of the home.

The inspector's report is the only documented proof of the actual condition of the property that is being sold. It is a valuable tool that helps you negotiate the sales contract and gives you information about future maintenance projects. The cost of an inspection is well worth the peace of mind it provides.
